Jocular Hints On The Topic Of Orange County Property Appraiser

When I discovered out about the Conserve Our Homes Amendment, my first reaction was that on its face it sounds good.

Nowadays the effective serve themselves, not we the people.

When I wrote the chairman with the Help save Our Homes Amendment who pioneered the legislation, Lee County Property Appraiser Ken Wilkinson, I was pleasantly surprised when he wrote me back within a day.

Nevertheless I read the petition, which on its face sounds good for Florida home owners (especially those that would like to shift elsewhere within the point out and purchase a brand new home). What troubled me however was the last sentence around the petition, which reads:

“Thereafter the new homestead residence shall be assessed as provided herein.”

That being said, how come nothing else was composed or provided therein pertinent to that clause?

Omissions and distortions are the modus operandi of slick tongued legislators not desirous of letting we the people in on their true motivations. Purporting to serve the people, they talk sweet but the rest that remains to be seen is constantly yet being discovered.

Orange County was originally called Mosquito County immediately after early settlers named it right after the incessant mosquitoes from the area. Mosquito County was created in 1824.

of Public Policy for that Florida Association of Realtors, recently authored my sister saying:

After the civil war early settlers discovered wild citrus growing from the area. The county was renamed Orange County in 1845 as citrus became the areas key industry later spawning nearby citrus magnates including Dr. Phillips.

That is really a point the media refuses to acknowledge.”

So in other words there is a shift to not “limit” house taxation to annual 3% increases, but move it up to the new Governor approved and permitted 4.2% now allowable.

Mr. Sebree further wrote: “The US Constitution would prohibit portability inside the way we want it. It appears portability would violate the US Constitution’s ‘right to travel’ clause. We are functioning with a solution to make it constitutional and that may be added in.”

The Florida Legislature in 1862 passed the Florida Homestead Act which allowed settlers to deed as very much as 150 acres in exchange for a modest filing fee as soon as they had freeholded land for 5 years. This attracted at lot on the early settlers for the state.

The million-dollar question even so is who is “we” — undoubtedly not the taxpaying homeowner. I dare say “we” could be the tax assessors and county residence appraisers working for them.

Mr. Sebree assured my sister in her 50s who cannot afford to proceed and pay in an enormously greater tax bracket on a new home: “If you stay in your house forever you might be still protected under this new language (as you said, assuming it even makes it for the balot and passes). “

Why than is Preserve Our Homes not saying that? The “if you stay” part is massive for house owners across the state with a fixed and limited earnings who can’t afford massive taxation increases on their home. Consider the retired elderly, ill, single-parent, and those who are unemployed. If the elderly or ill ought to move closer to family for household health care; the single-parent marries and moves elsewhere; as well as the unemployed relocates to take a job—either of these scenarios indicates significantly higher home taxes and the elimination from the 3% cap.
